Where was Cloud Computing is Invented?

Introduction

Cloud Computing is Invented –  in the 1960s by J.C.R Licklider (Joseph Carl Robnett Licklider), an American psychologist and CPU scientist. During his system research work at ARPANet (Advanced Research Project Agency Network). Trying to connect people and data worldwide, he introduced the Cloud Computing technique that we all know today. Born March 11, 1915, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, JCR Licklider continued his early education at Washington University in 1937, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in three majors.

Including physics, mathematics, and psychology. Later, in the year 1938, Licklider did his master’s degree in psychology and obtained his doctorate. from the University of Rochester in the year 1942. His interest in information technology and his years of service in different fields and achievements earned him the appointment as Chief of IPTO at ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency of the Department of Defense of USA) within the year. 1962. His approach led to the ARPANet, a precursor to today’s Internet.

The beauty of the cloud computing phase has continued throughout the 21st-century era. In the mid-2000s, probably in 2006, Amazon created AWS (Amazon Web Services) and highlighted its Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2). In 2008, Google also introduced its beta version of the search engine. Earlier announced by Microsoft in 2008, it launched its cloud computing service called Microsoft Azure for testing, deploying, and managing applications and services

Why was Cloud Computing is Invented?

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency 1963 funded $2 million for a project that included the development of technology that allows a computer to do use by two or more people simultaneously. Giant computers use here, where reels of magnetic tape do consider for memory and a predecessor, currently called “cloud computing”. It acted like a cloud giving access to a maximum of 3 people to connect. In the vision of growth, J.C.R Licklider 1969 developed ARPANet (the primitive version of the Internet).

He advanced his notion called the intergalactic computer network, in which anyone can interconnect through computers and access information from anywhere at any time. The term virtualization coined in 1970 has changed, now describing the creation of a virtual engine that acts like a natural, fully functional computer system. The increased use of virtual computers in the 1990s and the commercial offering of virtual services led to the development of cloud computing infrastructure.

The Benefits of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing has grown in approval in recent years. With the increased data security and storage of vital information, the Cloud has earned its place for business needs. The Cloud works in the same phenomenon as webmail services. Storing bulk data and accessing it from any corner of the world. Some of the few cloud-based apps are Facebook, Instagram, and Google Cloud. This application provides servers hosted in the Cloud where the user’s data does store for later access.

Some advantages of Cloud Computing in companies are list below:

  • Implementing a cloud-based server or being in the Cloud makes it cost-effective since it will be easier to access the organization’s data and information, saving time and investment effort in the initial phase. In addition, the Cloud also has facilities for the storage area. Which means you only pay for the storage you have installed. Revenue growth is also increasing investment in cloud applications.
  • The security issue is a big problem when viewing and storing files and documents on the site. Just like cyber crime does the same to access data remotely. The key to improving security is to encrypt data transmitted over networks. Furthermore, different security features are also available to the users.
  • Rather than hosting an application on a local server, Cloud offers great hosting flexibility on its platform. As a result, it increases the overall efficiency of the organization.

Conclusion

Cloud Computing is Invented  – An alternative to IT services for greater flexibility and lower cost. Cloud computing takes advantage of market demands by improving resource utilization and bringing tremendous benefits to customers of all sizes. In addition, it promises excellent reliability and scalability. However, despite the potential gains, few businesses are still struggling to embrace it due to application security issues that may hinder the Cloud in the long run. According to the ongoing research and development activities, cloud computing has the potential to excel at the top, but with some challenges that it needs to address for its future growth.
